Jan works in oil, pastels and acrylics, and often works Alla Prima (in one sitting). Her work is a mixture of contemporary realism and impressionism. Her favorite subjects are landscapes, seascapes, birds and animals. She is known for keen portrayals of light, water and reflection. She creates in both her home studio and En Plein Air (outside on location).
Jan has sold her paintings online throughout the United States as well as internationally, in galleries, local shops, and artisan festivals, and even has sold a handful to a major motion movie set. She participates in art exhibitions and shows, and has been chosen to show in several prestigious juried exhibitions throughout the USA, while winning awards as well.
Jan is an Associate member of the American Impressionist Society, NOAPS, and Oil Painters of America. Jan is also a member of The Art Colony of Gainesville, GA, the Quinlan Arts Center, and the Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts. Her work can be found online at www.janbestfineart.com.
