Paula is a retired Habersham County Schools Choral Director and Drama Teacher. She is known for her creative spirit and love of the arts. Throughout her 30 years of teaching at Clarkesville Elementary School and North Habersham Middle School, she led her students in artistic endeavors through musical productions and plays while instilling in them the love of the arts. She has also been involved in Habersham Community Theater in various acting roles and in directing, including her favorite, "The Wizard of Oz!"
Upon retirement in 2016, Paula pursued a “bucket list” dream of learning to paint. Inspired by a sweet church friend artist, she discovered the world of watercolor in 2021 and has been painting ever since. Her painting loves are photo realism of wildlife, botanicals especially florals, and line and wash using granulating paints.
Currently Paula has been dabbling in the world of quilting, with a particular interest in free motion quilting, applique, and art quilting. She hopes to include some of this work in her Hemlock display in the near future.
Paula looks forward to continuing her art journey as she explores various mediums, styles and techniques and grows as an artist. She is excited to be a part of the community of artists at Hemlock Studio Gallery!
